Five Element Acupuncture
Five-Element Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of Chinese medicine. The Chinese observed that everything in nature (including us) is made of the five elements, wood, fire, water, earth and metal. These elements must be in balance in order for us to be well. It is normal for us to move in and out of balance throughout our lives, resulting in periods of feeling well and feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms. Five-Element acupuncture can help keep us relatively balanced as well as reset the balance when we become ill.
A unique system of medicine, five-element acupuncture focuses on treating an individual's mind, body and spirit equally because when we experience emotional distress it can result in a physical symptom. The key to relieving that symptom is therefore in identifying the cause and rather than just treating the symptom, treating the cause of the imbalance and viewing patient as a whole being.
